Description

Early 19th.c. Empire style mahogany dressing table or wash stand c.1820. Just 32" wide. Original oval mirror plate within a crossbanded flame mahogany frame, angle adjustable on a shaped yoke, veneered to match and ending in delightful carved swan’s heads (symbol of the Empress Josephine). Over the original white marble top with beautifully dished surface and rounded corners. Flame mahogany veneered base with a single satinwood lined drawer in the front. Raised on graceful curving legs joined with a turned stretcher and retaining the original little brass castors to the feet. The mirror (which could be easily replaced) is tarnished though usable. Some repairs to the veneers, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Original lock and key.
