Antique Longines silver full hunter pocket watch, 1906.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Longines name and it also has the logo on the regulator. The movement has the serial number 1945317 which dates it back to 1906. However records show that it was 1915 before the watch was invoiced out to Mendel, the Romanian agent for Longines.

The movement is protected by a signed inner hinged cover which has details of medals won in Paris, Antwerp, Milan and Brussels. There is a small indentation to this inner cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental hallmarks and also Russian silver marks inside the three covers which tells us that it was imported from Switzerland into Russia and then it subsequently found its way to the UK. The inside of the outer covers has the EFCo Longines mark (for the founder of Longines, Ernest Francillon).

The outside of the case is beautifully decorated on both the front and back, and there is a cartouche with a previous owner’s initials.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition.

The signed dial has handsome ornate hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are some hairline cracks radiating from number 3.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
