George V Silver Stilton Scoop Sheffield 1935 William Hutton & Sons

1920 - 1940
Description

A George V era silver Stilton scoop with a hallmark for Sheffield 1935 and maker’s mark for William Hutton & Sons. The ferrule (between the scoop and the handle) is also hallmarked for Sheffield 1934 and maker’s mark for William Yates. It would not be unusual for silver makers to specialise and William Yates was known for cutlery making and William Hutton for high quality silverware. The scoop has an ivorine handle (often called bone handle at the time). This piece is in excellent condition and the scoop itself is beautifully made with a high gauge of silver and a deep shovel. Lovely.
