Description

A late 19th pair of spelter fisherfolk figures, a young man and young woman, signed E Rousseau.

Both figures are very well modelled with a lot of detail in the faces, clothing, headgear and fishing baskets and equipment. The man carries a hook, the woman carries a large fishing net over her shoulder - it is detached but fits into her clasped hand while the net simply rests on her shoulder. They are both barefoot, and stand on a rocky base which extends here and there over the 11cm square lower base. The figures have a gentle bronzed finish. Indeed, a charming and dynamic pair of figures.
