Antique Solid Silver Georgian Tea Set, 'Melon Shaped' with Floral Chasing - Robert Hennell 1826

We are delighted to offer this ornate Georgian solid silver three-piece tea set made by Robert Hennell in London, 1826.

All three pieces of the set feature a beautiful geometric design often referred to as 'melon-shape' due to the segments between the intricate chased floral motifs.

Contrary to the above, we believe that this tea set may be more accurately described as a pumpkin design due to the finial on top which resembles a pumpkin more so than a melon.

The sides and handles are profusely decorated with flowers, Acanthus leaves and fruits. The interior of the sugar bowl and milk jug is fully gilded - the rich and lustrous gold tone not only serves an aesthetic purpose but allows for contents to be held within, without tarnishing the silver.

Such elegant decorations allow for this set to be used as a centrepiece attraction on a fine dining table or for practical usage - a luxurious afternoon tea experience may be elevated further with such opulent silverware.

All pieces are clearly hallmarked with matching English marks.

CONDITION

Great Condition - The tea set is in excellent antique condition with no major damage or issues. For accuracy, there is one very small 'bend' in the foot of the sugar bowl as shown in the last image - please rest assured this is very minor and does not affect the stability/usage of the tea set.
