Pair of French Empire Armchairs C.1890

Description

Good pair of late 19th.c. French Empire style mahogany armchairs c.1890. Very comfortable with padded backrests and sides and deep feather filled cushions on sprung bases. Exposed mahogany frames, superb curving arms with supports carved as Classical style fish (or dolphins) complete with scaly tails where they join to the backrests. Lovely woven wool covers with laurel wreaths and flower heads against a rich red ground. Old wear and repairs to the frames, otherwise good condition with clean covers. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
