Mid 19th.c. French Empire Couch C.1860

Description

Mid 19th.c. French Empire style couch c.1860. Cherrywood frame and striking upholstery in green silk with Classical style motifs to the backrest, seats and sides. Straight top over a padded backrest and shaped arms. With carved and reeded fronts and a simple papyrus leaf detail where the arms meet the stiles. Deep feather filled cushions to the seat. On square legs with a slight curve at the foot. With an old repair to one of the back legs, otherwise very good colour and condition with clean covers. Frame has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Note we also have a matching though reproduction pair of armchairs in the same fabric.
