Welsh George III Oak Longcase Clock Circa 1780

Description

Handsome Welsh George III oak longcase clock with 8 day striking movement by Samuel Davies probably from Brecon. The case banded in mahogany on rthe doors and base and with quarter columns to truck. Lovely swan neck cornice to hood with carved ends and most unusually inlaid with circular whorls below cornice. Original bracket feet. The movement has recently been fully overhauled and is in fine working order and retains its original brass bob pendulum and lead weights. The fine quality case is in superb condition with just a couple of small banding repairs. Great rich colour with fine waxed patina.

Size; 87" high, 19" wide & 10" deep at hood.
