Exquisite Silver Pique Tortoiseshell Jewellery Box or Trinket Box by William Comyns, London 1910

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a rather beautiful silver and pique tortoiseshell trinket box. Made by the celebrated William Comyns, it is hallmarked for London 1910. The tortoiseshell pull-off cover intricately inlaid with ribbon-tied garlands and musical instruments within a raised silver bluebell border. The solid silver circular base with gilt interior.

Hallmarks:

W.C for William Comyns.

London Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "p" for 1910.

Condition:

Very good.

Tortoiseshell in good glossy condition.

Silver base in very good condition, no dents.

Snuggly fitted lid.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 6cm / 2.4 inches.

Height: 4cm / 1.6 inches.
