Description

A stunning pair of Art Nouveau Bristol blue glass vases c1880. The vases are decorated with a gilt swept fluid and sinuous Art Nouveau design, defined by very precise thin tube lining. Being gilt swept, the pattern is not a uniform flat gold, which would not be pleasing. The method used conforms with the moving fluidity of the lines. Various themes can be seen with the design - an acanthus, swans and water and reeds at base. Hand blown glass probably from a Stourbridge factory. Absolutely stunning colour.
