Description
This is a very crisp example of a good French engraved carriage clock in excellent condition. The eight day duration two train movement with rack & flirt-release striking on a tuned bell. Also having original and fully jewelled, ratchet toothed, side lever, platform escapement. Behind a white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, minute ring and outer, Arabic five minute markings. Also, matching steel Breguet style 'open moon' hands. Contained in a good and beautifully hand-engraved and gilded 'Gorge' case with bevelled glass panels the top one being full-size, silked baseplate sound holes, top repeat button and pinned swinging and faceted carrying handle. This is a particularly attractive example in fine condition also, it is of a smaller than usual size. The movement is not signed by the maker which indicates that it was supplied to a premier retailer who would want to give the impression that it was manufactured by them in which case, the retailer's name would be written onto the dial. The lack of a retailer's name on the dial is probably due to it being washed off during cleaning. The price is for the clock in excellent, recently restored condition. The purchased item can be collected at a time mutually agreed upon. Alternatively, delivery can be arranged for which we are happy to provide a quotation for.
