A fabulous Georgian mahogany folding side tea table c1820. It stands on a reeded pedestal (beehive shape, unusual) on four outswept legs, reeded at their edges. Original castors. The folded top also has a reeded edge, with a double effect when folded. The top swivels to reveal a secret compartment. It opens out to a larger table of perfect proportions. The colour is warm medium mahogany; the patina heightens the figures mahogany; the condition is outstanding. A very elegant side table, with a place to hide valuables, and a delightful tea or supper table all in one. The Georgian cabinet makers were clever and knew their trade.
