An Extremely Rare Pair of Peter & Jonathan Bateman Silver Tongs

A gorgeous pair of late 18th Century silver tongs by Peter & Jonathan Bateman. These beautiful tongs are shaped, with wriggle edging and bright cut patterns. There is feint evidence of an armorial or monogram in the cartouche to the bow. A charming and collectable pair of early tongs, by the most sought after Makers in the great Bateman Family. Peter & Jonanthan struck a mark for only six months in 1790, ending with the sudden death of Jonathan. The scarcity of this marks makes it highly prized among collectors. Dimensions below.
