Description

A very nice quality Victorian visiting card case, one side with large engraved silver panel with vacant central cartouche, set within a frame of abalone shell, then within a diaper pattern engraved frame of mother of pearl and a final plain outer edge of mother of pearl. The opposing side has the same arrangement but with the large central panel being engraved mother of pearl. Purple velvet lined inside with a push button opening side hinge. c.1880.

It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high, 8cm (3 1/8") wide and 1cm (3/4") deep.

In excellent condition with no losses or chips. A fine crack across the edge section of mother of pearl along the bottom edge. The opening mechanism and hinge are very good. Very minor handling wear. The silver is unmarked as usual. A lovely example
