A rare set of Spanish Antique chairs.
We love their spectacular finely carved and fretworked top rail and ornately embossed Leather centre which is original to the chairs.
Also original is the cane seats which are all in mostly good condition but do have some stretching and just a few broken canes as expected with antique cane work. The chairs come complete with hand stitched leather seat pads to protect the cane and the chairs are also comfortable because of these.
Underneath the seat is a front rail which matches the the top of the chairs with turned and scroll carved front legs in the typical Spanish ornately carved style. The chairs are also complete with turned stretcher rails meaning these chairs are strong and have no loose joints or wobbles, which is rare for tall back chairs like these.
The chairs have their original French polished finish in a deep Jacobean dark oak colour.
This set of unusual tall back chairs would really look stunning around an Oak refectory table or furniture of the Jacobean style.
We have just lightly restored these chairs by cleaning, waxing and treating the chairs for historic woodworm.
