Penderyn Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The interior has been papered with old newspaper dating back to 1849. The articles are still legible and make for interesting reading. The front of the oak mule chest has three sunken panels with two small drawers below. Raised on stile feet.

CONDITION REPORT:
In good antique condition throughout with some signs of age. There is surface wear in places including marks and staining to the top (pictured) and also to the front and sides of the oak mule chest. Overall, the oak mule chest remains structurally solid and sound. The hinges appear original. The paper to the inside dates back to 1849 and is still legible. Quite worn in places with various marks and staining but a good mule chest or coffer with lots of character. The papered interior makes for interesting reading.
