Antique Mid Victorian Mahogany Tall Chest of 5 Drawers

An amazing condition original chest of drawers.

We are delighted to bring to you one of the finest examples of a rare Victorian (circa 1860) 5 deep descending drawer chest of drawers. This tall chest of drawers features the finest figured Mahogany to the drawer fronts with cock-beading to the drawer edges which is all complete with none missing. This simple yet elegant chest of drawers is in an outstanding condition featuring its original lightly faded french polished finish with a lovely rich and deep mahogany colour with lots of patina. The chest also features the finest quality original turned mahogany knobs and brass keyhole escutcheons in front of its original locks (no keys). The finely dovetailed solid Mahogany drawers are in good condition, are smoothly operating and are very clean inside. This chest of drawers has had all of the drawer runners replaced so now have little to no wear and do not drop when opened and are good for many more years to come.

This bank of drawers has one very large full depth bottom drawer which goes past the plinth to maximise space. As myths go, these were sometimes used as a cot for small babies which would be lined with blankets. The chest of drawers also stands on 4 bun feet. We have carefully cleaned and waxed this chest, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.

Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
