Description

A fine early 19thc mahogany bow front four drawer chest of drawers c1820. In excellent condition, no splits. The figured mahogany top is crossbanded and line inlaid. Above the top drawer, there is a crossbanded freize edged with an inlaid chain link design. The locks and ivory escutcheons are original. The lining is pine or similar softwood. The chest stands on scrolled feet. The back is good. The mahogany is a rich warm colour enhanced by the darker figuring. The chest also benefits from a narrow and not too deep profile, quite unusual but attractive. A stylish piece.
