Description

Fine pair of early 19th.c. French Empire mahogany open armchairs c.1830. Solid mahogany frames and striking upholstery in lemon yellow with Empire style motifs to the backrest and seats. Curved cresting rails and rear stiles, shaped arms with large reeded and scrolling terminals on palmate supports. Note the carved papyrus leaf detail where the arms meet the stiles. Sprung seats over a mahogany veneered apron raised on shaped front legs also carved with papyrus leaf detail. Very good colour and condition with only minor wear to the covers. Frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
