Description

This charming little rug was made in the Erivan region of Armenia circa 1900.

The central medallion and four outer medallions are in a beautiful shade of natural teal and the prominence of the central pre-Islamic cross symbolises warding of evil spirits and breaking evil down into four parts. The main border design is reminiscent of the Caucasian 'ChiChi' border and the rug is in full pile excellent condition.

Size: 1.52m x 1.09m (5' 0" x 3' 7").
