A Rare Georgian Cayenne Bottle, with Silver Gilt Spoon

A delightful and rare silver mounted cayenne bottle & spoon. This unusual piece dates from the Georgian Regency period. The glass bottle is of clear glass, with double bands of hobnail cutting, alternating with facet cutting. The silver spoon is gilded and has a cut glass ball finial. The bottle would have been for cayenne pepper, a condiment served at the table in the 18th/19th Century. A lovely collector's piece. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no chips or cracks to the glass and no dents or breaks to the spoon. The spoon has a small 'kink' in it and the stopper some tiny fleabites along the vertical edges, all commensurate with age and use.

Hallmarks :- Soft and partially missing. Sterling lion and date letter visible.

Date :- London 1815.

Base diameter :- 3.4 cms.
