A charming an atmospheric original watercolour of a meandering river in early autumn attributed to George OYSTON, a renowned watercolourist who lived 1860-1937. The scene depicts the curve of a quiet river among a gently rolling landscape, with the early autumn glow of the evening. The original mount is inscribed - On The Ouse, Near Hemmingford, Hunts. George Oyston.

The watercolour, which was unframed, appears not to be signed but the scene, river and especially the rushes protruding from the water are typical of Oyston’s hand.

The watercolour has been reframed but the mount and painting are original.
