There was certainly no evidence of it once having a flat-woven back and, if it was a balisht, then the ends would have been finished differently!
Gorgeous as it is opened up, this handsome soumak weaving was made by Afshar nomads in Kerman Province circa 1870-1880.
Size 66cm x 33cm (2' 2" x 1' 1").
