A Good, English Drop-dial Mahogany Wall Clock With A Wooden Dial By Thomas Harrison Of London. Circa 1810

This is an early and attractive English wall clock in excellent condition.
 
The eight day duration, gut fusee movement with a slow-beating Anchor Recoil escapement, tapered plates and knopped pillars.
 
Behind a 14'' diameter, flat, one-piece painted mahogany dial that is formed from the bezel surround. The original, crazed off-white background paint has an outer minute ring with hourly triangles encompassing black Roman numerals and the upper and lower centre bears the maker''s signature ''Tho(ma)s Harrison (of) LONDON'' in ornate script. The well executed blued steel hands have tapered shanks and inverted heart ends. The Sheraton style, cast brass bezel is glazed, hinged and locking and fits exceptionally well.
 
Contained in a fine mahogany ''drop-dial'' case that has a very finely turned bezel surround, Mudge & Dutton style integral front ''ears'', an ebonised strip moulding around the base of the well figured trunk, a full-width scrolled and locking door to the chamfered base ...
