Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency card tables, dating from roughly 1811 to 1830, are characterised by classical symmetry, lightweight proportions, and multi-functional designs. They typically feature fold-over tops that open to reveal a playing surface and rest on pedestals or splayed legs with brass castors.

Cabinet makers predominantly used flame mahogany and rosewood, often enhanced with satinwood crossbanding, brass inlays, and cast brass toe caps. The interior playing surfaces were frequently lined with baize cloth.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass hardware with natural oxidisation, and timber displaying a deep, aged patina. The swivel or gate-leg mechanism behind the folding top should show signs of historical hand craftmanship.

Positioned against a wall when folded, these tables function as elegant console tables in hallways, alcoves, or living rooms. Adding a contemporary lamp or modern ceramic vessel creates a balanced contrast between period and contemporary design elements.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent shrinkage or veneer lifting. Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and occasional applications of high-grade beeswax will protect the timber finish.
