Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
By premier German clock makers Winterhalder and Hoffmier
~~ In superb condition throughout ~~

The clock was originally retailed by the prestigious jewellers Northern Goldsmiths of Newcastle on Tyne
The case is quite outstanding, made of fine flame mahogany with brass finials and brass inlaid quarter pillars, it is in lovely condition.

The only detriment to the case is a slight shrinkage crack in the veneer at the back of the top which you can see in the last photo, it really is not noticable unless you stand right over the top of the clock.

The original front glass door is set in a polished brass frame and is in perfect condition .
The clock is a quarter chiming ting tang clock which chimes once on twin gongs at quarter past the hour, it chimes twice on twin gongs at half past the hour and chimes 3 times at quarter to the hour. It strikes the full hour on a single gong. The gongs are very mellow and resonate beautifully for a very long time ,it sounds divine

Winterhalder and Hoffmier are considered to be the very best German clock makers of their time and their clock movements are the Rolls Royce of movements. As you can see from the pictures the quality of engineering is top drawer.
It comes with its original pendulum.
