Description
Circa 1820, exceptional quality mahogany free standing library table/desk by ‘James Mein of Kelso’. The rectangular top with burgundy embossed and gilded leather, broad cross- banding and ribbed foredge. There is a configuration of two full sized drawers on each side one opening and one faux. The inside of the right-hand drawer has the original trade label for ‘James Mein Kelso’. Beneath the drawers there is a small, ribbed beading that runs around the entire piece, all resting on four turned fluted and tapering legs, finishing on brass cups with cast brass casters beneath. The desk has been traditionally re-leathered and re-polished. Internal Ref: 30138
