Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton Revival furniture, prominent in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reinterprets Thomas Sheratons late 18th-century neoclassical designs. Key elements include slim vertical proportions, geometric symmetry, satinwood crossbanding, refined marquetry, and delicate astragal glazing.

Bureau bookcases from this period were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or walnut, frequently accented with decorative veneers such as satinwood or rosewood. Secondary woods like pine or oak were utilized for drawer linings, while glass panes were set within wooden astragal moulding.

Authentic pieces display finely cut dovetail joints on drawer construction, hand-fitted locks, and natural wear patterns on timber contact points. Look for precise inlay work rather than printed patterns, alongside aged brass hardware exhibiting light oxidisation.

Position the piece as a focal point in a study, hallway, or living room alongside contemporary neutral tones to highlight the warm wood finishes. The upper display area can showcase curated glassware or books, while the fall-front desk serves as an occasional workspace.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina. Avoid direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting, and use mild glass cleaner applied strictly to a cloth when cleaning glazed panels.
