Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian centre table is a freestanding piece of furniture designed to be viewed from all sides and placed in the middle of a room or grand foyer during the nineteenth century. These tables frequently featured rich wood veneers, such as burr walnut, alongside detailed marquetry inlays and carved turned supports.

Victorian woodworkers typically constructed these tables using a solid timber framework finished with high-figured burr walnut veneers. Decorative details often incorporated contrasting wood marquetry inlays, hand-carved pedestal legs, and original ceramic or brass castors.

Authentic pieces feature signs of hand-drawn construction, including hand-cut marquetry veneers, natural timber shrinkage along joints, original porcelain or brass wheel castors, and period-correct underside construction with hand-carved turned stretchers.

Place the table as a focal point in a central entry hall, position it behind a floating sofa, or use it in an open-plan living area to anchor the space. Pair it with structured contemporary lighting or minimal ceramic accessories to balance the detailed woodwork.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the wood grain. Protect the surface from heat and moisture by using mats, avoid direct sunlight to prevent veneer fading, and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber finish.
