Lucas 'King of the Road' Carbide Railway Lamp

Description

Circa 1915-16 A London North Western Railway carbide lamp made by Lucas Ltd of Birmingham.

It is 27.5cm in height and approximately 21cm across and is in very good condition.

The Lucas trademark at the top reads:

Lucas

King Of The Road Reg No. 635157-8

J&S Lucas Ltd. B'ham.

On the three pieces of the lamp on one side are the embossed initials LNWR - see last photo.

On the base is a brass plate with the instructions 'DO NOT FILL CARBIDE ABOVE THIS GROVE'.
