Pair of Edwardian Double Caned Bergere Armchairs with Carved Oak Frames

1900 - 1920
Description

A pair of very good quality Edwardian carved oak bergere armchairs with double caned panels and deep seats, the arm terminals in the form of winged cherubs, with blind fret carved front rails and raised on claw and ball feet, upholstered in pale pink damask fabric with loose feather filled back and seat cushions.

In good condition, the canework is good and strong - one small area of damage to the back of one of the outside panels. The fabric is nicely worn, a few marks in places but in very useable condition. I can arrange to have the chairs re-covered if preferred.

The backs 72cm high, 72cm wide outside arm to outside arm, the seats 73cm deep overall (59cm with the cushion) and 40cm high including cushion.

I also have the matching two seat sofa available.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
