Victorian Iron Framed Button Back Armchair by Cornelius V Smith

Description

An unusual Victorian iron framed, deep seated button back armchair by the esteemed 19th century cabinet maker Cornelius V Smith, the iron frame with deep buttoned back, seat, arms and borders, raised on mahogany turned supports with original brass and porcelain castors, one back leg stamped with maker's mark CVS, upholstered in a light sage green damask fabric with rope trim.

Cornelius V. Smith was 19th Century London cabinetmaker, who operated at Marshalls yard, Henry St, Hampstead Rd. He is well known for producing chairs of the highest quality and this is a particularly good example. Being iron framed it has a sprung back which makes it extremely comfortable.

The back 97cm high, 75cm wide at the front, the seat 66cm deep and 41cm high.
