Large Highly Impressive Oil Painting

19th century
Description

Henri Louyot (1863-1940): A beautiful and most impressive large French OIL PAINTING on canvas which depicts a view on the River Doubs with a chateau on a hilltop overlook the river with figures in a boat below. Signed lower left and dated ’84 .

It is contained in its particularly fine quality water-gilt carved and gesso frame in immaculate condition, which incorporates part of an original leather inventory label (numbered 1618) at the top. circa 1884. 51 x 43ins overall including the frame. Superbly painted and very highly recommended indeed.
