Antique 18th Century Large Carved Oak Coffer ( Initials for Cf 1708)

Antique 18Th Century large Carved & Joined Oak Coffer Dating from around the time of George 111 c1780. Constructed from so,I’d oak it has a panelled top with moulded edge above a carved frieze with and with the initials CF and the date 1708. We feel that this date may possibly be an error in the carving and perhaps should have read 1780 as we feel the coffer is late 18th and not early 18th century? Below the frieze there are three drawers ( two of which are false drawer fronts) with brass handles and leading to four moulded panels. It has panelled sides and is raised on a plinth base . It is hand and peg joined and internally it has its original candle compartment.

MEASURES: 27” HIGH X 21.5” DEEP X 55.5” WIDE

With a lovely deep colour and patination and oozing all the charm and character of the period. Our furniture is cleaned and polished using traditional waxing methods.
