Original Regency Mahogany Sofa Table.

A stunning Regency drop leaf sofa table.

This is a marvellous example of a simply elegant Regency sofa table believed to be made around C1820. This original table has a solid Mahogany top with a moulded edge and 2 drop leafs supported by 4 pull out finger joints. Under the tabletop are 2 full length drawers complete with ebony inlays around the edges and dummy drawers to the other side which look identical to the front. This makes the table ideal for the middle of a room and symmetrical.

The fantastic table has a lovely lightly faded Mahogany colour with old surface markings patina which give a great life story to this lovely table.

This original table stands on a central turned support column incorporating a flat shaped base going to 4 curved and scrolled legs. The elegantly shaped legs feature ebony inlays and they stand on its original solid polished brass castors.

We have just cleaned and waxed this table to give a natural shine and enhance the surface.

This item is in superb condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches, dents and old repairs. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character so we have left it untouched as it came in from the previous owner and have just cleaned and waxed this item.
