Description

Very impressive late 19th.c. renaissance revival oak bookcase c.1890. Two long glazed doors with blind lower panels, fitted inside with four adjustable shelves (depth 13"), over a single drawer in the base. Broad moulded cornice over a carved frieze with scrolling cartouche and acanthus leaf detail. Doors with shallow arch top glazing, long decorative brass escutcheons and superb base panels with projecting centres carved with Classical inspired urns and fruit surrounded with acanthus and scallop detail. With a fine pair of long turned and reeded columns flanking the doors. Carved drawer front with original brass handles. Flared base moulding repeating the shape of the cornice, raised on turned bun feet. Oak panelled sides and backboard. Oak shelves and drawer linings. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied. Note this piece disassembles into flat pieces for delivery.
