Description

Unusual little walnut writing bureau c.1890. Useful small proportions, just 28½" wide. Fall front bureau opening to make a small leather top writing slope and revealing a fitted interior with dividers and an ink stand. Over a small slim drawer (which forms the support for the writing slope when open), an open shelf and a tambour front cabinet in the base fitted with a divider and shelf. Pierced gallery around the sides and rear of the top with quality brass mounts to the front. Raised panels to the fall and original brass handle and lock plate stamped with a patent number and the date 1886. Turned supports and gallery spindles to the shelf, reeded detail to the front legs and shaped detail at the sides of the base. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
