We are delighted to offer this stylish English solid silver quill made by Carrington & Co in London, 1901.

Carrington & Co are considered as one of London's important silversmiths receiving the royal warrant (Royal Silversmith) from none less than Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Edward VII and George V.

Despite the quill being made entirely of solid sterling silver, the design and form are exceptionally intricate, almost mistakable for a real feather quill from afar.

Despite in nominal terms, the weight may not appear significant (63g), in hand, it is a very sturdy and heavily weighted object (normal pens approx 16g for reference).

Each fine line and indentation have been meticulously engraved and crafted presenting exemplary 20th Century silversmithing. The quill comes in its original fitted case and with two modern stainless nibs (other accessories photographed are available separately).

Whilst in our opinion, this item serves as a decorative and elegant display of classical style - it is possible to attach some modern (stainless) nibs to the quill and use it as a writing instrument. We have included two nibs that roughly match its size, however, it is quite tight and difficult to fit, resulting in an awkward writing experience should you wish to use it practically (though it is possible with some care and skill).

The elegant aesthetics in addition to the timeless image of a quill makes for a distinct and splendid piece of silverware that would grace a writing setup alongside some books, inkstands, notes, etc.

The quill is marked on the stem with English hallmarks.
