Description

A superb antique pair of Victorian silver menu holders with hallmarks for Lion Passant, London 1890 and makers mark for Grey & Co (Sidney Thomas Oldridge).

The oblong holders stand on a semi circle frame with another semi circle behind the decorative front, which holds the menu or place card.

The fronts display and elaborate cast vignette of a pair of exotic bird heads (cockatoos or similar) either side of delicate petals and scrolling foliage.

The workmanship is delightful. The hallmarks are clear and identical on each piece. There is no damage. A pretty pair of intricate holders which have survived intact from the late 19thc.
