Pair of High Back Tapestry Armchairs C.1920

Description

Superb pair of Louis XIV style large open armchairs with tapestry covers c.1920. High backs and sprung seats upholstered in a striking woven tapestry fabric featuring picturesque ruins in a garden landscape, arranged to make a symmetrical design across the two chairs. Solid walnut frames with long carved and curving arms. Shaped apron below the seat with carved detail continuing down the legs front and rear. Legs terminating in hoof feet and joined with curving, carved and moulded crossed stretchers. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
