Pair Of Antique George III Silver Wine Coasters

£1,650    $2,214    €1,961
A highly decorated pair of solid sterling silver bottle coasters, dating from the last year of the reign of George III.

They are hallmarked for Sheffield 1819 and carry the maker''s mark of S C Younge & Co.

The coasters are a classic Regency style having rounded bodies with a band of hand-chased fluted decoration, applied gadroon, scroll, & shell borders. The turned hardwood bases are covered in green baize. There is a family crest on the central boss. There is damage to the underside of both rims - I am advised that this is possibly due to air bubbles within the embossed decorations having blown but, as they are not visible unless the coasters are upside down, they have not been repaired and the coasters are priced accordingly.
