Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Elizabethan Revival furniture emerged in 1830s Britain as part of a historicist movement inspired by 16th-century design. Characteristics include heavy scrollwork, strapwork, turned columns, gadrooned mouldings, and dense dark woods such as mahogany and oak.

Tables from this period featured solid joinery including hand-cut dovetail joints, blind mortise and tenon framing, and hand-carved decorative relief detailing created using specialized chisels.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved precision, uneven oxidisation consistent with age, and stamped maker marks or serial numbers on drawer edges or undersides from workshops like Gillows.

Position the piece against contemporary neutral backdrops, such as soft plaster or stone grey walls, and offset the heavy dark wood with modern minimalist ceramics or abstract artwork.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish every six to twelve months, buffing along the grain with a soft cloth while avoiding direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber movement and cracking.
