An attractive Japanese Meiji period shodana (Japanese cabinet) on stand. Having Yosegi work marquetry throughout and raised gilded lacquer decoration to the drawers, the door depicting an oriental scene with willow tree, river, rocks, ducks and a house. The door opens to reveal 3 Yosegi worked drawers with brass pulls. The cabinet has bronzed metal handles, hinges and escutcheon, a lacquered black stand and is in very good condition.
