A rare find, this is one of the finest pairs of Mother of Pearl Opera glasses we have had in many years. Of course they are made by the finest French manufacturer, LeMaire of Paris.

Each of the eye pieces has the engraved and inked signature together with the little Bee, the trademark for LeMaire. Also, if you look closely under the brass frame, you can find the engraved Bee trademark.

This pair is lucky enough to have a sought-after two drawer Lorgnette handle which neatly folds away when not in use. What makes this pair stand out from the crowd, even in the world of LeMaire, are the two mother of pearl clad barrels that are revealed once they are focused and the inner barrels revealed, quite special.

Dating to c.1900, they remain in excellent working condition and come complete with a pouch. 4 1/2" x 2" x 2 1/4" while all folded up.
