Description

A stunning antique English sterling silver box with a domed lid with a shield shaped cartouche crowning the top, perfect for engraving by your silversmith should you wish. The box has beautiful all-over floral and foliate repousse decoration.

The hinged lid fits perfectly and works well, when opened reveals a stunning gilded interior in exceptional condition and clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1887, a true Victorian example, the makers mark is too present, D & F for top-notch silversmith Deakin & Francis.

This box was retailed by the famous Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company or 112 Regent St., London, signed on the underside.

Excellent condition, measuring 3 3/4" wide x 1 5/8" deep x 1 1/8" tall.
