A well constructed 'birdcage' 30 hour mechanism striking the hours on a bell. The maker has utilised a lantern clock plate for the clock frame base. An old case label on the back board showing makers details.

John Spinney of Blandford (Forum) is recorded in 'Dorset Clocks and Clockmakers' book from 1707 to 1780. It is noted in the book that he made 30 hour single hand clocks, bracket and turret clocks.
