Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Half dolls, popular from the late 19th century through the 1930s, were moulded porcelain torsos designed to be attached to fabric bases, skirts, or pin cushions. During the Art Deco era, these figures featured iconic period fashions such as cloche hats, bobbed hairstyles, and stylish winter coats.

Pincushion dolls were typically crafted from glazed or bisque porcelain, hand-painted, and kiln-fired. The lower edge of the figure usually features small moulded holes or a waist groove designed for stitching fabric skirts or cushions directly to the porcelain torso.

Authentic period half dolls display characteristic hand-painted facial features, era-specific hair styling, and distinct period attire like cloche hats or fur collars. Many German manufactured examples also feature incised maker marks or mould numbers stamped into the lower rim.

These delicate porcelain figures function well as decorative curios on dressing tables, vanity trays, or arranged within bookshelf vignettes. Pairing them with vintage vanity accoutrements or displaying them under a glass cloche adds a curated vintage accent to a room.

Dust the glazed ceramic surface gently using a dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush. Avoid immersing the figure in water or using abrasive cleaning chemicals to preserve any overglaze hand-painted details and lower attachment points.
