Description

Late Georgian walnut bureau bookcase c.1820. Glazed bookcase top fitted with three shelves (internal depth 7½”). Over a fine bureau base, the fall opening to reveal a lovely fitted interior of graduated drawers, pigeon holes and a central cupboard with secret compartments either side. Plus four drawers of graduated height below the desk. Beautifully figured walnut veneers across the piece. Topped with a deep moulded and crossbanded swan neck pediment, canted and reeded outer edges to the doors and shaped glazing with moulded surround. Inlaid herringbone pattern borders to the fall and drawer fronts. Raised on shaped bracket feet front and rear. Excellent colour and condition with earlier repairs and restorations. Keys supplied.
