Old Sheffield Plated Loving Cup - Falstaff Club C1780

Description

A fantastic large Old Sheffield Plated loving cup / trophy, dating to c1780. Bearing crests for the Falstaff Club over a boar's head and on the reverse 'Sack' over a Latin motto relating to Falstaff. The piece is unmarked and has a visible internal seam.

The condition is very good overall with no major knocks or dents. Slight copper copper bleed to the raised edges and to the crests as to be expected. Slight surface wear due to age and use.

A very large and impressive piece of Old Sheffield Plate with an interesting history.

Diameter at rim approx 11.5cm.
