Description

Remarkable late 19th.c. Gothic Revival chiffonier side cabinet c.1890. Tall three tier display rack with bevelled mirror back panels over a two door cupboard base fitted with a single shelf (depth 11?), plus a single drawer in the waist. Elaboately carved, painted and gilded decorations across the piece. Topped with gilded finials and a pierced gallery around the top shelf, raised on carved columns with Gothic architectural detail and pierced tracery sides. Six carved and gilded lion’s heads around the top of the base, linen fold door panels and large decorative brass lockplates and hinges. Paintwork and gilding is all original, rubbed through in places to reveal walnut timbers below. With some old wood worm holes, we are happy to guarentee this is not live. Excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
